Jet Li’s manager Steven Chasman is setting the record straight. The action star is “completely fine” and in good health, despite a wave of concern for his well being after a photo of a frail-looking Li went viral.
Over the weekend, the 55-year-old actor posed for a photo with a fan in Tibet, which went viral. The caption reads, “Jet Li is suffering from hyperthyroidism and spinal problems.” In fact, a social media frenzy began, which bled into traditional media. Even the South China Morning Post wrote a story about the photo with the headline, “Is this the same Jet Li we all Know?
But Chasman is happy to say that all is well. “We appreciate everyone’s concern. But Jet Li is completely fine,” he says in a statement. “There’s nothing wrong with him. There’s no life-threatening illness. He’s in great shape.” Chasman claims the photo has been “taken wildly out of context.” See the photo that started the frenzy below.
